30 Mar 2012

Libera will be appearing on Songs of Praise for Palm Sunday edition. The program will be aired on BBC one, April 1st 2012 at 16:45. We will get the preview on Sunday. Hopefully it's a new video, and someone in UK will record and put it on Youtube. Keep crossing your fingers. Thanks to Jimmy Riddle for sharing this news.

"Sally Magnusson presents traditional hymns from All Saints Church, Pittville, Cheltenham, with performances by Only Men Aloud, Mary-Jess and LIBERA. The story of Jesus' last week is told with Bible readings by Julian Rhind-Tutt." - BBC One

UPDATES (26 March 2012)

The picture from preview

It seems this will be new for us. Possibly it's a video of 'How Shall I Sing' which mentioned by Barney in the interview with Classic FM, watch here. From the picture we can see (left to right) Liam, Carlos (?), Tiarnan, Eoghan, Stefan, JB, Barney, Josh, Matthew RA, Luke (behind Matthew), Kuba, and Alex. I'm pretty sure the boys in the video will be the same as in Still, Still, Still video. Because if our prediction was true, the both video has filmed in the same place at the same time, so the boys got involved will be the same too. Thank you to Patrick for sharing. Now I look forward to see this video. :)

Update (30 March 2012)
Yep, it's How Shall I Sing that Majesty. BBC announced it on their website. You can read the complete details here. Hopefully it's not only 2 minutes clip like they did to Still, Still, Still video. We want to see the full version, pleaseee! :)

Singapore Interview Part 2

29 Mar 2012

The episode 2 of the interview series is out now. This time they were interviewing Kavana and Barney via e-mail. How awesome it is. The interview is really interesting and cute. You can read the article here. Thanks to Jimmy Riddle for finding it. I copied the interview, just in case. So here you are.
************************
"Interview with Angels"
Always wanted to know how these boys juggled professional singing and school? Or how about the one singer they would like to work with? in2it.sg did an exclusive email interview with 2 of the boys who will be down with their choir for a 2-day concert here in Singapore next week! If you have not gotten your tickets, how about winning a pair of tickets (worth $156) right here at in2it.sg? Contest details here.

Hello! Can you do a short introduction of yourself and your group?

Kavana: Hi there! My names Kavana, aged 13, and I'm a part of Libera. Libera is a boys choir with an age range of 7-16, based in South London. We sing our own songs, like ‘Sanctus’ and also put our own harmonies into songs, like 'Orinoco Flow'. We get together about 4 times a week to rehearse, and we tour around the world, which is awesome!
Barney: My names Barney and I'm 11 years old. I would describe Libera as a unique group because we're all very young, but when we do our concerts, you wouldn't think we're just a bunch of boys from South London!

Will this be your first time here in Singapore? What are you hoping to see or any delicacies you want to try?
Kavana: This is our first time in Singapore, and for some of the little ones it will be their first time away with us, so we're all excited. We don't know much about Singapore, but from what we have heard the food is great! We also interested to taste some Hawker food as well.
Barney: This will be my first time in Singapore so I'm really excited; I love noodles and spicy foods and I’m looking forward to tasting the real thing!

What are your training sessions like?
Kavana: Our rehearsals are very fun. Even though some of them can be long, we all enjoy it. It's particularly good because of course we're with friends, so it's also a time to meet up with them.
Barney: Rehearsals are hard work but they're definitely worth it. When we arrive at a rehearsal, we're all a bit rusty after a long day at school so we get to do lots of fun warm ups.

At such a young age, you boys have displayed such amazing talents! How did you discover your passion for singing?
Kavana: Thank you! Even at a young age, we still all knew what we liked and didn't. I guess the passion for singing just comes naturally, if you like, as well as the passion for music.

Barney: I first discovered that I could sing when I was 8. I had to sing at my school play because I was Little John from Robin Hood. All of my friends said I had a talent and my parents took me out for a special dinner!

Who is the one singer that you would like to work with?
Kavana: Over the years as a group, we have sung with many fantastic singers, like Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins and even Pavarotti. I'm not sure really, as we all have our different opinions. Of course, we love singing and meeting new people as well.
Barney: If I could sing with any singer then I would definitely choose Adele because I really like the richness if her voice and I'm always singing along to ' Someone Like You'!

Juggling both school life and singing professionally is pretty tough. How do you boys manage it?
Kavana: Surprisingly, it's very manageable. In rehearsals sometimes we have homework sessions and things like that. Occasionally we have to take a day off to catch a flight somewhere, but that's about it. At school, all our friends are supportive of it as well, which is a great help
Barney: It can sometimes be hard to get all my homework done in time for rehearsals but apart from that, it's usually fine.

What can we expect in the future for Libera?
Kavana: That's a tough one. Another album maybe, some television appearances. But of course, the concerts first (which of course you should come to!).
Barney: I think that the future of Libera is always changing – a little bit at a time, as new 7 year olds join, and older ones start to sing with their new lower voices. This means that this week we have lots of ‘miniboys’ – as we call our new boys - who've never been on tour or sang on stage before. Obviously they will adapt and become extremely good singers thanks to our excellent coaching. But for now they'll have to work really hard to learn masses of music, and where to stand, and which harmony part to sing.
************************
Isn't it interesting? I told you. I was like "Oh, how cute!" when I read Barney's story about his play as Little John in Robin Hood and got his special dinner for the treat. Haha. Oh, we all knew that Barney is a big fan of Adele. He sometimes give a little compliment to her on twitter. I was little surprised when Kav told about their "homework session" during rehearsal time. Wow, salute to Libera's management for their concern to our boys' school life. Afterall, school always comes first. Last thing what I've got in this interview is there will be newbies on this tour, which is great. Welcome boys! I think these newbies are the same 'unknown' boys in the Val's Day video they posted in February back. Okay, 9 days to go to Angel Voices Tour 2012 begins. Yayy!

Time Travel

28 Mar 2012

Sometimes I forgot the reason why I built this blog (sigh!). Oh are you confused what I'm talking about? Hehe. Sorry. I'm just on my drama-queen mood. Beside keep updating any news about Libera, you know guys, my main purpose made a blog is to introduce Libera as the whole team from past to present. So, you can learn to love them whole-heartedly as Libera.

Therefore this time I want to invite you all for getting a time travel tour with me. Aha, don’t laugh at me. I’m serious. I know it sounds silly. But, follow my lead, please. (:

Yep, now let me bring back some memories from the past. While I was surfing Youtube randomly, I re-found some videos from ‘old’ Libera generation. Perhaps you have seen them, or not. I myself have watched it several times and never get bored.

Day by day, we can see that Libera has never changed eventhough boys come and go. They are still the same: super adorable, cute, and sweet. Typical Libera boys. Oh, do not forget one important thing, they always have the same angelic voices. That’s the main point.

Funniest boy:
My choice falls on Michael Horncastle. He was rather 'hyperactive' in all Libera videos. You'll know why I chose him if you watch all videos featuring him. LOL.

Quote of all time:
"Although we're all individuals, when we sing together, we make the sound that is Libera." - Joshua Madine

Year 2009

 Cute moment:
I think it was so cute. While Mr.Philipp was talking, not-so-mini Ben smiled widely behind him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh how I miss those time. Well, I first found them in the golden moment of Michael H, Tom Cully, and the others. So, please, do understand me. Hehe. But, hey, I love the present of Libera as much as the past. Libera always have 'new' talents generation by generation which can enchanted us with their magical charm (read: beautful music). There is nothing to worry about. Libera is still Libera. No matter what. Right, right? :) I hope you enjoy this 'travel'. KEEP CALM AND ENJOY LIBERA'S MUSIC! Cheers.

Singapore Interview Part 1

14 Mar 2012

Why I say part one? Is there another interview? According to Libera (Singapore), it's the first of a series interviews with Libera boys. Okay, I can't wait for the others. You can read the entire article of City News - SG here, I just copied-pasted the interview part with Barney and Ralph on this blog.

Interview
How long have you been in the choir and how did you get involved with Libera?
Barney: Two and a bit years.
Ralph: I’ve been in the choir about six and a half years, I think. I came into the choir like most boys do—with an audition, at my teacher’s suggestion.

Who are your favorite singers?
Barney: Adele and Rizzle Kicks.
Ralph: Mumford and Sons—they’re a small English band and they’re quite cool.

So which has been one of your most memorable performances?
Barney: Probably at Arundel Cathedral—it was my first concert and it was me and some other mini boys and it was really good fun.
Ralph: I think that was the Papal Mass at the Yankee Stadium—that was amazing.

What is the toughest thing about being in a traveling choir?
Barney: On my first tour I was a bit unsure about being away from home, but you get used to it and it’s like a sort-of family as we are all friends.
Ralph: The hardest thing when you are traveling with a group is that everything takes so long because we have lots of tickets and passports to get through and things like that. But it’s a great experience and we always fill the time with some jokes or card tricks.

And what do you like best about being in a choir like Libera?
Barney: I get to travel the world—I’ve been to the Philippines, America and Canada, and I’ll be going to Japan and Singapore, which is quite good for one year!
Ralph: The best part of it is in the singing and touring, which may just set you up for life in a musical.

How would you describe the sound of Libera to someone who has never heard you?
Barney: Angelic, as everyone says, but it’s really all about a blend, not just solos. It’s the choir coming together to make one amazing sound.
Ralph: We have a unique sound—kind of a cross between classical and church music, and quite upbeat. We write a lot of it ourselves. - the end

Uhmm, okay, that's all. In conclusion, besides Stefan we know that Barney will be coming to Singapore and Japan, maybe Ralph too. Are you excited, guys?

UPDATES: I just realized something strange here. Maybe they kinda mixed up Ralph and Kavana. Well, this thought just came in mind after I read a post from Lauren on LDF. She says it's strange that the answer for Ralph's favorite event is Papal Mass which usually answered by Kavana. In fact, Ralph was not there at the time. And I also noticed that the answer for how he joins Libera because a suggestion from his teacher is the usual answer by Kavana. So, perhaps it's true the article mixed up Kavana and Ralph. Just saying. I could be wrong, though. :)

Article on Yahoo Singapore

6 Mar 2012

Today there is an article written on Yahoo Singapore about Libera's Spring Tour. You can read the whole article that I re-wrote below. Basically it's about a promo for their first performing in Singapore next month. I'm really happy to found it. You know, these days it would be more easy and fast to spread an information via internet. Hopefully many people would read it on Yahoo and become interested to the boys. Thanks Jimmy Riddle for sharing this article. Countdown to Spring Tour 2012 begins. 31 days to go.

Lauded London’s boys’ choir to perform in Singapore

Hear the sound of heavenly voices when London's chart-topping boys' choir Libera comes to perform in Singapore for the first time in April.
The choir is made up of boys aged seven to sixteen who hail from various social backgrounds. Each youth possesses an amazing vocal quality, and together they create the distinctive sound Libera has become famous for.
The boys have performed to sold-out concerts around the world, from the UK to the U.S. and to other parts of Asia. Also, their albums have been topping both mainstream and classical charts consistently.
Libera's songs are a wonderful blend of classical, contemporary and new age sounds, which are composed and arranged to highlight the unique quality of each boy's voice.
"Angel Voices — Libera in Concert" will be held on 6 and 7 April 2012, 8pm at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets ranging from $48 to $128 (excluding SISTIC admin charges) are available at all SISTIC counters.

Loose Moose Blog

5 Mar 2012

Hello, guys! Maybe you noticed that I've never posted any blogpost about Loose Moose Show here. It doesn't mean that I don't care at all to their work. No, NOT AT ALL. Mark that! I genuinely support them with all of my heart. But, I just don't want to mix up Libera and Loose Moose. Yeah, Because from the first time I dedicated this blog only for LIBERA. It's so confusing. Giving dilemma in my head. LOL.

Therefore, lads and lasses: I proudly present to you all  a NEW blog. Yep, I created a special blog dedicated to The Loose Moose Show. Actually it was already alive in webworld since last month, but I didn't  have a gut to tell you guys here. I'm a shy person. Hihi. Original Media Show

1 Mar 2012

I just  found this video on Youtube. It posted by Original Media Show. First I thought it is just a fan channel, then I found that they mentioned Singapore concert. The video itself entitled as Libera - Behind the Scenes, so I thought it was a new video of Libera related to Singapore tour in April. Unfortunately NO, it's not new. It is a clip from Libera Songs of Praise Special in 2009 that they just uploaded on 7 February 2012.

Then I - with many question in my mind - visit their youtube channel, found their website address. Apparently they are an event organizer in Singapore. They have Libera's concert banner at their frontpage. At that time I was still clueless. I was like "Are they Libera's EO in Singapore?"

And the answer is obviously YES, they are people that manage Libera's concert in Singapore. Because then I noticed their name on Singapore concert's flier. See below. Haha.

In conclusion, I want to say is that Original Media manages Libera's Singapore tour, to be held on 6-7 April, live at Esplanade Theatre. Details here. I'd also like to say thank you for Original guys. I hope you can make a great and successful event for Libera and their fans. That's it. Case closed! Farewell. (:
